
Philippine cinema is mourning the death of one of its excellent directors.
Amable Aguiluz VI, also known as Tikoy Aguiluz of the famed masterpirces “Boatman,” “Bagong Bayani,” “Rizal sa Dapitan,” “Segurista,” “Biyaheng Langit,” “Tatsulok,” among other notable works, passed away of an undisclosed cause.
Tikoy, founder of Cinemanila International Film in 1999 and co-founder with the late Virginia Moreno of the UP Film Institute in 1976, was an awarded filmmaker (Best Director and Best Screenplay, “Rizal sa Dapitan,” Famas 1998 and Best Director, “Manila Kingpin,” 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival etc.).
