Show people or a fraction of them, anyway, never runs out of political verve for the improvement of their field or the larger society in which they thrive.
Take the case of the three-day mass actions against the derailing tactics of the majority in the Senate about the impeachment trial of Vice-President Sara Duterte initiated by progressive groups, civil society orgs and other committed individuals to carry out democratic processes to resolve issues.
Truth and justice are the pursuits of the protest rallies that would add better economic life for the entertainment industry, according to the showbiz denizens seen at the demo in front of the Senate building in Pasay City.
Singer Audie Gemora, actor Joel Saracho, TV host Xiao Chua—among other visible showbiz protesters on June 11, 2025–were indignant about the proceedings of the case.
“When there is no justice in government then it is time for citizens to take to the streets,” commented Audie.
“Bumagsak na naman ang sense of humor ko dahil sa kaputahan nitong 18 senador (My wit is down again because of the prostitution of the senators). “Pagkatapos magrally o manood ng pamba-balahura sa hustisya, maglaan ng oras at lakas para panoorin ang mga dula o ang pelikula (After joining the rally or watching the way justice is muddled, spare some time and energy to watch plays and movies). “Pambanlaw. (For rinsing),” said Joel.
“After magsulat ng kolum para bukas…at nang masunod na ang konstitusyon, forthwith, bago pumasok sa mga klase (After writing a column for tomorrow, rally first for quezo to move the glass of the case and to uphold the Constitution before going to class). “…Also, every impeachment trial is a learning experience for the nation,” observed Xiao.
Although Romnick Sarmenta wasn’t in the rallies, he was very vocal in his multimedia guesting about the impeachment. He quoted St. Augustine: “Whatever is against truth cannot be just.” (Boy Villasanta)
