Tanduay has once again claimed the title of the world’s number one rum, marking its eighth consecutive year at the top, according to the Millionaires’ Club report by Drinks International Magazine.
The Philippine-made rum brand recorded global sales of 23.8 million case liters in 2024, outpacing top competitors Bacardi (19.7 million) and Captain Morgan (11.5 million). In 2023, Tanduay sold 23.4 million case liters.
The report also ranked Tanduay as the sixth best-selling spirits brand worldwide last year.
“It makes us proud that a Philippine brand is performing well on the global stage. Even while we are entering new markets, we have always remained true to our Filipino heritage and craftsmanship. This recognition is the result of the collective effort of our different teams and the trust of our consumers around the world,” said Roy Kristoffer Sumang, Tanduay International Business Development Manager.
Despite global industry challenges, Tanduay managed a 1.7% increase in sales, making it the second fastest-growing rum brand in 2024. It was one of only two rum brands to record growth last year—the other being India’s 1965.
The rankings by Drinks International were based on official reports from public companies and direct data submissions from leading spirits producers. The publication noted that small differences in decimal points, not shown in the published report, determined some of the final rankings.
Founded in 1854, Tanduay continues to expand its presence across a wide range of international markets, including the U.S., U.K., China, Canada, Australia, and several countries in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
