A survey has found that technology gifts top the charts as the most desired Valentine’s Day presents this year, with over 42 per cent of people wanting some form of gadget from their partner.
In a bid to find out if the most desired gifts match what they are expecting on the most romantic day of the year, Rakuten’s Play.com asked 1,000 people what their dream gift would be this season.
An iPad was first on the list, followed by the more traditional gifts of jewellery and flowers. A laptop took fourth position while a PlayStation 4 came in fifth, according to the South Wales Evening Post.
But the gift people are most likely to expect, chocolate, didn’t even make the top five most wanted. In fact, the list of what people can expect for Valentine’s Day this year differs quite significantly compared to what they actually really desire. After chocolate and flowers, clothes took third place and cologne or perfume took fourth, followed by a weekend getaway.
And while the majority of people are unlikely to get the gift they want, 80 per cent of those surveyed would never return or exchange their Valentine’s gift.
Of all the British regions surveyed, the Welsh are a bit bolder when it comes to making sure they get their ideal gift—over a third claim they have or would return or exchange an unwanted gift.
