The show goes on for Max Eigenmann amid family tragedy

The day award-winning actress Cherie Gil died last August 5, 2022, Max Eigenmann was in iconic fashion designer Albert Figueras’ atelier in Makati City.

Max at the time was excited and cheerful in fitting the frocks Albert made for her. “Ang saya-saya pa ni Max habang nagsusukat ng mga gown ko (Max was very happy fitting in my creations for her),” informed Figueras who created the evening dresses for Eigenmann in preparation for wearing them in the four forthcoming events—opening of the 2022 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, gala premiere of the films “Kargo” and “12 Weeks” where she was the lead star and awards night on Sunday, August 14, 2022 where she would compete with other outstanding performances of female actress in the acting plum.

Mga alas dos y medya hapon umalis si Max sa shop. Taposnag-text pa kami sa (Max left the shop at about two thirty in the afternoon. Then we still texted each other on) FB Messenger after she left,” recalled Albert.

According to the fashion designer, he learned of the passing of Cherie towards late afternoon but Max didn’t answer anymore when he wanted to verify the news to her.

Malungkot si Max pero wala na siyang magagawa. Mahal niya ang kanyang tiya Cherie pero (Max is grieving but she can’t do anything anymore. She loves her aunt Cherie but life goes on),” Figueras vicariously said.

Despite the tragedy in the family, Eigenmann still went on with her life as she attended the galas of her two films.

Mas is honored to be influenced by Gil if not inherited the late actress’ acting genes.
