Valencia kiddie football festival in Bridgetowne

It was drizzling but it didn’t dampen the spirit and enthusiasm of the many children who competed in the recently concluded “Valencia Milo Football Festival” at the Bridgetowne Football Field in Pasig City.

These kids, coming from various schools throughout Metro Manila and the suburbs, were in their winningest form.

“You can see the excitement and joy in the faces of these kids who are all football enthusiasts as early as pre-teens,” said Randy Clarino, the prime mover of the festival through Valencia Football Club in Antipolo City.

Valencia F.C. was the organizer and host of the festival.

According to Randy, the festival was the culminating activity of the summer football camp held right in the middle of Bridgetowne Football Field.

With their whole family in tow, the young footballers were athletic ready, keen and sporty not to mention sports-mindedness being fostered by the competition.

Coaches from different football clinics with their teams named after them were as enthusiastic as their students who at a very tender age are taught to be disciplined and determined.

“In Valencia Football Club, we teach virtues through sports, specifically in our case, football,” quipped Clarino whose children are all involved in football as players or coaches.

During the sportsfest, the participants were engrossed with their games unmindful of the sprinkle of raindrops although their kith and kin would bring out and cover their little players with umbrellas, if necessary or would halt the playoff for a moment until the rain stopped.
