What did Vic del Rosario’s Viva Hot Babes, Marynette Gamboa’s D’Bodies, Joy Cancio’s SexBomb Girls, Mocha Uson’s Mocha Girls, Michael Tupaz’s Playgirls, Lito de Guzman’s Baywalk Beauties, Benjie Pe Benito’s Wow Girls etc. have in common?
They were groups of all-female sing and dance performers, either disbanded or their members went solo.
These sexy sing and dance troupes took the local entertainment scene by storm as they were the toasts of the town in the new millennium.
Unfortunately, they worn out for some reasons or another.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic cut short the regular television appearances of EB Babes of GMA Network’s noontime variety show “Eat Bulaga,” the group has maintained its togetherness. But since big gatherings are restricted in the current health crisis, most of them are doing independent shows with limited audiences or they are individually cast when the need arises in the TV program.
Meanwhile, in the midst of the health emergency, one all-female group has braved the center stage of the pandemic.
Its adman Ricky Rivera’s idea to organize an all-female sing and dance troupe to contribute to the essential role of entertainment to while away anxieties and uncertainties of the mass audience caused by the pandemic.
Thus, Pasada Babes was born.
Pasada Babes has already recorded a song titled “Papa Pasada,” a music intended to promote and to inspire the general riding public in their daily struggles on the road.
“Nakaka-inspire ang kanta ng Pasada Babes. Pang-masang pang-masa (The song of Pasada Babes is inspiring and very attuned to the interest of the masses),” said Ricky.
Will the entry of Pasada Babes in the local music industry the signal of the return of new or repackaged all-sexy female sing and dance groups?
Let’s wait and see.
