Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) formally introduced itself as the new distributor of Hyundai passenger cars in the country during the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) and presented its second straight World Car of the Year – the Ioniq 6 – almost a month after it bagged the prestigious award last month at the New York Auto Show.
Hyundai ushered in the next-generation of Hyundai models to the local market last year as part of its renewed commitment to offer a product line-up with technologies that help build solutions for a more sustainable future. These included the latest iterations of familiar nameplates, such as the Palisade and Tucson, as well as new additions, namely the Creta and Staria. It also ventured into the highly competitive Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) segment, with the Stargazer, and the rapidly growing Electric Vehicle (EV) segment, with the IONIQ 5.
“Hyundai, being the third leading brand in the world, has widespread R&D facilities and talent that permit us to ‘Innovate Everyday’. We are able to focus on finding the right avenues that enable us to uplift the quality of life among Filipinos, at the same time provide them freedom of movement. By giving them these, they get make the most out of their time and enjoy what’s truly important,” according to Cecil Capacete, the managing director of HMPH. “In 2023, one of our main objectives is to increase our customer satisfaction index.”
The Ioniq 6 was the most talked-about vehicle during the MIAS’ 4-day event as Hyundai was able to get hold of the vehicle almost a month after bagged 4 major awards in the just-concluded World Car of the Year that included the prestigious World Car of the Year.
The Ioniq 6 is set to be officially launched towards the middle of the year for around P4-million. Currently the Ioniq 5 is already on retail for P3.06-million 2WD Standard Range, and P3,698,000, 2WD Long Range. It is being offered with a 5-year or 200,000-km vehicle warranty, 8-year or 160,000-km battery warranty and free Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) for 5 years or 75,000-km, whichever comes first. The installation of a 7.4KWh AC wall charger also comes standard with every purchase.
Hyundai Motor has set five (5) main areas of interest to achieve its Carbon Neutrality 2045 Agenda with electrification as the top priority. The brand has pledged to play a pivotal role not just in pioneering technologies but also leading society’s transition to clean mobility. Hence, the Ioniq, its first dedicated line of purely electric vehicles and a manifestation of its global vision of Progress for Humanity.
“The IONIQ sub-brand was developed to bring about and encourage a sustainable lifestyle through an elevated eco-friendly experience. It was designed to support, if not jumpstart, our customers’ journey to go green. Our flagship model, the IONIQ 5, became a validation that we are on the right track. It has garnered numerous recognitions, paving the way for our newest mid-size electric sedan. The IONIQ 6 also has just become a triple-crown winner during the recently concluded 2023 World Car of The Year Awards which made us even more excited to give visitors a chance to see it physically at the Manila International Auto Show,” said Hyundai Phils. President Dongwook Lee.
The Ioniq 6, following the footsteps of its predecessor, claims the 2023 World Car Design of The Year, 2023 World Electric Vehicle of the Year and the coveted 2023 World Car of The Year, plus the World Car Person of the Year award.
Both models share the same design DNA but have their own unique typology. “Sporty and sleek” for the IONIQ against “bold and space” of the IONIQ 5. The exterior shows off the brand’s signature 3D parametric pixel lights complimented by glass-like, transparent textures. Stepping inside, the cabin has been shaped like a cocoon for a cozier feeling. Despite this, manages to still be class-leading in terms of passenger comfort and cargo space because of its long wheelbase. At the driver seat, mindful, interactive features have been incorporated through the integrated digital cluster and infotainment screen and action-sensitive ambient lights.
