ADB to infuse $2.1 billion for Bataan-Cavite interlink project

Reuters reported that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved financing of up to $2.1 billion for the Philippines to construct a 32-kilometer climate-resilient bridge across Manila Bay.

Said project aims to decongest the country’s capital.

In a statement, ADB said the Bataan-Caviite interlink bridge would enable better mobility of goods and labor and support the development of the regional economy.

Meanwhile, elected officials from BicoI were joined by the officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways  (DWPH) last week in a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of another Bicol university that will rise in Ligao City.

The project is located in Barangay Tuburan and will cater to students coming from different Bicol provinces. The project is estimated to cost P250 million and is expected to be completed by 2024.

Baby Boy Benjamin Nebres, BU president said the Biciol University in Ligao, which is approved by the board of regents, will not only offer veterinary medicine courses but other courses that are industry-based within the vision of the university for humanity.

“We would like to thank Committee on Appropriations Chair and Ako Bicol Rep Elizaldy Co, Albay 3rd District Rep. Fernando Cabredo, and other partners for the realization of the project,” Nebres said.

On the other hand, Mayor Fernando Gonzales said the establishment of BU in Ligao is a breakthrough for the city, as well as for the district.

“We don’t have a veterinary school around here. I think the nearest one is in Naga City. This will give us tremendous opportunities for the Albayanos and the rest of the nearby provinces.

BU’s main campus is in Legazpi City.
