Business groups hail Senate approval of Konektadong Pinoy Act

Industry associations and foreign chambers have lauded the passage of Senate Bill 2699, or the Konektadong Pinoy Act, calling it a major step in advancing the country’s broadband infrastructure.

Led by FinTech Alliance PH, alongside Better Internet PH and over 10 other organizations, business groups welcomed the measure as a game-changer that will enhance digital access while attracting greater private sector and community investment in broadband development.

FinTech Alliance PH Founding Chairman Lito Villanueva highlighted that the bill will expand wireless internet access by optimizing radio spectrum resources, particularly benefiting rural areas. He also noted that it simplifies regulatory processes, accelerates infrastructure deployment, and promotes network sharing to improve overall connectivity.

“By updating outdated, analog-era policies that have hindered the growth of internet connectivity, the Konektadong Pinoy Act paves the way for a more inclusive, competitive, and digitally empowered Philippines,” Villanueva stated.

He emphasized that faster, more reliable internet will drive economic growth, education, financial inclusion, and innovation. Villanueva also urged lawmakers to expedite the bill’s enactment, pledging continued collaboration with the government and stakeholders to bring its benefits to fruition. TRACY CABRERA
