Sec. Dizon to speed up completion of infra projects

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon vowed to fast-track big-ticket transport projects under the Build Better More (BBM) infrastructure program of the Marcos administration to ensure efficiency of the country’s transport systems and alleviate hardships of the commuting public.

“Ang objective natin simple lang: pabilisin, at ayusin para maging safe ang ating transport systems. Hindi pwede ang pwede na,” Sec. Dizon said during after he took his oath as Secretary of Transportation before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at Malacanang.

According to Sec. Dizon, the Chief Executive’s first order of business was to fast-track ongoing projects of previous administrations and begin the projects that are already in the pipeline.

“Yun ang unang-unang sinabi ng ating Pangulo. “We have to fast-track all the ongoing projects of the past administrations and also start the projects that are in the pipeline’,” he said.

The transport chief pointed out that while there are hurdles to achieving this objective such as right-of-way issues, a whole-of-nation approach must be implemented to harmonize solutions to complete big-ticket projects.

“Sa lahat ng mga infrastructure projects na ginawa, nandiyan na ‘yung mga problemang ‘yan. Right-of-way unang-una. Ang right-of-way, ang solusyon niyan hindi lang manggagaling sa DOTr,” Sec. Dizon said.

“We have to work together. Kailangan talaga rito is whole-of-government, whole-of-society approach. Kailangan maintindihan ng lahat ng mga partners natin na kailangan silang mag-ambag dito sa mga kailangan nating gawing proyekto,” he added.
