Rising industry: 2nd end-of-life auto dismantler

Standard Insurance Company Inc. has emerged as the country’s second end-of-life vehicle (ELV) dismantling facility after En Tsumugi Corp.

Toyota Motors Philippines (TMP) said in a statement “With two established dismantling facilities now operating in the country, the private sector beefs up the local capacity for responsible ELV management.”

TMP said Standard Insurance is part of its Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project, a worldwide initiative focused on establishing a network of environmentally-certified ELV dismantling facilities.

“We commend its dedication to meeting Toyota’s rigorous guidelines for ELV dismantling and their commitment to sound environmental management,” TMP President Masando Hashimoto said.

“Standard Insurance’s effort is commendable as it is bringing our vision to life through its ELV dismantling facility, which aligns with Toyota’s global vision,” he added.

Standard Insurance was said to have invested P17.8 million for the expansion of its ELV dismantling facility. The firm operates a dismantling center in Naic, Cavite, with a capacity of up to six units per day or an average of 850 vehicles annually.
