The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has released over ₱195.21 billion in benefit claims from January to August 2025, marking an 84.35 percent increase from the same period last year.
Data showed private healthcare institutions received the biggest share at ₱114.63 billion, while government hospitals accounted for ₱80.58 billion. In 2024, PhilHealth disbursed a total of ₱105.89 billion for the same period.
PhilHealth said the surge in benefit payments reflects both the rising demand for medical services and its strengthened efforts to provide timely reimbursements.
The state insurer underscored that the increase ensures more Filipinos gain access to critical health services, in line with the Bagong Pilipinas vision of faster, fairer, and more reliable healthcare delivery.
