MRT-7 still includes SJDM station — DOTr

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) clarified that the Metro Rail Transit Line-7 (MRT-7) will have 14 stations along its alignment, including a station at San Jose del Monte (SJDM) in Bulacan, in response to false claims that last station (SJDM) has been dropped.

DOTr said MRT-7 – being built by San Miguel Corporation (SMC) – is still scheduled to begin operations by the second quarter of 2027, from North Avenue to Sacred Heart stations, in compliance to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to fast track all infrastructure projects for the benefit of commuters.

The Tala and SJDM stations are expected to be opened in 2028.

Earlier, DOTr plans to redesign the San Jose del Monte station, rather than relocating it as proposed by the local government.

Government identified the MRT-7 elevated railway project as one of 194 high-impact infrastructure flagship projects under its “Build Better, More” program.

MRT-7 stretches for 22 kilometers with 14 stations, carrying as many as 300,000 passengers a day during its inaugural year of operation while reducing travel time from Quezon City to San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan to just 35 minutes.

The project will also feature an intermodal transportation hub catering to other types of public transportation and a 19-km highway from San Jose del Monte to Bocaue, Bulacan.
