Hotels, airlines, travel agencies offer discounts to boost local travel

To encourage more domestic travel, the Hotel Sales and Marketing Association (HSMA) is offering discounted accommodation rates under government’s “Discover More to Love” domestic travel campaign.

Supporting HSMA’s campaign are Cebu Pacific Airways (CEB) and Philippines Air Asia, and members of the Philippine Travel Agencies Association and Philippine Tour Operators Association, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT).

HSMA President Loleth So said during their annual Virtus Awards they are “mobilizing member hotels and resorts to offer special room rates through a nationwide ‘Book-and-Buy’ sale running from June 26 to November 30, 2026.

So added, “Deeply discounted room rates” can range from 50-percent to 70-percent off published room rates.”

So noted, “What makes this campaign exciting is that it gives Filipinos a reason to rediscover destinations close to home, while enjoying offers that are normally not available year-round. Whether it’s a city staycation, a beach escape, a mountain retreat, or a long weekend adventure, the campaign brings together a wide range of choices from HSMA member properties nationwide.”

Acting Tourism Secretary Ma. Bernadita Angara-Mathay said the domestic travel campaign not just encourages more Filipinos to travel around the country, but also helps the hospitality sector lift its bookings especially during the lean season.

The sector has been hit by cancelations from government after Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced energy conservation measures due to the Middle East crisis.

Earlier, DOT offered a unified marketing portal for hotels, airlines, travel agencies and destination management companies (DMC). under the domestic campaign.

Participating companies can share their travel/tour packages, affordable airline seats and value hotel rates/packages, on the DOT website.

CEB Marketing Director Michelle de Guzman said, “‘Discover More to Love’ aligns with their own campaign, ‘Discover Juan by Juan,’ which encourages travelers to fly to what moves them and experience the Philippines one destination at a time.

PTAA President Jaison P. Yang underscored the importance of collaboration among tourism stakeholders and encouraged everyone to continue promoting a deeper appreciation and love for the Philippines.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, domestic travelers spent P3.16 trillion last year, up three percent, year-on-year. It exceeded the spending of foreign travelers, which declined by 6.4% to P698.46 billion in 2025.
