BPI names Ginbee Go as next CEO in 2027

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has appointed consumer banking chief Maria Cristina “Ginbee” Go as its next president and chief executive officer, effective April 26, 2027, succeeding Jose Teodoro “TG” Limcaoco.

In a statement, BPI said Go, currently an executive vice president, has helped modernize its consumer banking business, expand its retail presence and strengthen the integration of its physical branches and digital services.

She previously served as president of BPI Family Savings Bank, leading its transformation and eventual integration into BPI.

Go also held leadership positions at Citibank, Ayala Land and Procter & Gamble. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines Diliman and ranked 10th in the 1991 Certified Public Accountant licensure examinations. She earned her Master of Business Administration with honors from Harvard Business School.

BPI Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala expressed confidence in the bank’s prospects under Go’s leadership, citing opportunities in the expanding and increasingly sophisticated Filipino consumer market.

He said the bank sees opportunities to serve consumers seeking a trusted partner in achieving financial stability and success despite volatility in the global and domestic economic environment.

BPI reported a net income of ₱48.9 billion in the first nine months of 2026, down from ₱50.5 billion in the same period last year.

Total revenues rose 9.8% to ₱156.3 billion, while net interest income increased 11% to ₱121.1 billion.

Operating expenses, however, climbed 12.5% to ₱73.7 billion, reflecting investments in manpower and technology.

The bank’s total assets expanded 10.8% year-on-year to ₱3.9 trillion, while loans grew 13.6% to ₱2.7 trillion.

BPI’s non-performing loan ratio increased quarter-on-quarter to 2.5%. The bank said it maintained adequate reserves for expected credit losses, with its NPL coverage ratio at 89.6%.
