Alvin Patrimonio, the heartthrob cager of the 90s, still has the looks and the charisma of the dreamboat (“dreamboy” for Pinoys who love to create their own terminologies) that he once was. The crowd still adores him wherever he goes. This, we fount out, when we joined him in gracing an out-of-town sports tournament in Bingawan, Iloilo, known as The Bingawan Mayor’s Cup.
Bingawan is a town in the northern area of Iloilo and we’ve become familiar with it simply because it’s the hometown of the rising young singer Ysabelle Palabrica (who has just released her first Christmas single, Atin Ang Pasko, composed by no less than the renowned Vehnee Saturno). The town mayor, the youthfull Mark Palabrica, is Ysabelle’s father. (By the way, she previously released two revival singles, also by Vehnee, namely, “Kaba” and “Mr. Kupido”.)
Internet entries cannot conceal Alvin’s age: 57. But in showbiz, this is how we describe the once-heartthrob basketball star: the sexiest, yummiest grandpa of at least one grandchild.
You, avid showbiz followers, know who he married: the stunning model-tennis player Cindy Conwi. They have three children: the GMA 7 actor Angel Patrimonio and the stunning tennis champ daughters Christine and Clarice.
Alvin is, of course, still a sports personality in the PBA, to reckon with as the team manager of the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots.
Off-court, Alvin behaves like a heartthrob who readily allows himself to have a selfie, shakes hands, and doesn’t mind being hugged as well as hugging others. (Audie See)
