April is Filipino Food Month

The Filipino Food Month (FFM) or Buwan ng Kalutong Filipino 2025 is set to launch this April, bringing a nationwide celebration of Filipino culinary traditions, flavors, and heritage. With this year’s theme, “Sarap ng Pagkaing Pilipino, Yaman ng Ating Kasaysayan, Kultura, at Pagkatao,” the FFM highlights the significance of local agricultural produce as essential ingredients in Filipino cuisine.

Established under Presidential Proclamation No. 469, Filipino Food Month is an annual celebration that promotes Filipino cuisine and fosters a deeper understanding of the country’s diverse food culture. It also raises awareness of regional specialties and the innovative culinary heritage that has positioned Filipino food on the global stage.

Throughout April, a series of events will take place across the country, including food festivals, conventions, and forums that spotlight the unique stories behind Filipino dishes—traditions passed down through generations.

Media Launch

FFM 2025 held its official media launch on March 21, 2025, at the Manila Prince Hotel in Ermita. The event gathered key partners, including the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Tourism (DOT), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement (PCHM), all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to this year’s celebration.

During the press conference, NCCA Deputy Executive Director Bernan Joseph Corpuz emphasized the importance of both tradition and innovation in Filipino cuisine:

“As we celebrate Filipino Food Month, we honor the traditions passed down through generations while also recognizing the creativity of our chefs and home cooks who continue to elevate our food scene.”
