BOC assures legality, safety of Discaya vehicles up for auction on Nov. 15

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) assured the public last week that the 13 luxury vehicles seized from contractor couple Pacifico “Curlee” II and Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya are safe and legal to use once auctioned off.

According to BOC Assistant Commissioner and spokesperson Vincent Philip Maronilla, the high-end vehicles, which were found to have been illegally imported, will be available for public auction on November 15.

“These cars will be sold by the BOC, and buyers have nothing to worry about. We will go through the proper process and issue certifications to prove that they were legitimately purchased through the auction,” Maronilla said in an interview.

He added that the auction is expected to generate between ₱100 million and ₱200 million in revenues, which will go to the government’s priority programs.

The lineup of vehicles includes a Toyota Tundra, Toyota Sequoia, Mercedes-Benz AMG SUV, Mercedes-Benz G500, Lincoln Navigator 2021, Bentley Bentayga, Lincoln Navigator 2024, GMC Yukon Denali, Cadillac Escalade 2021, Maserati Levante Modena, another GMC Yukon Denali, Cadillac Escalade ESV, and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

Maronilla said the vehicles were forfeited in favor of the government after the Discayas failed to prove their legal importation. “We hope to attract bidders who are interested in these vehicles. Whatever funds we raise will help support the government’s development projects,” he added.
