Davao Rep. Duterte in hot water over bar incident

Criminal complaints for physical injuries and grave threats have been filed with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte.

In a sworn statement submitted to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on April 26, complainant Kristone John Patria alleged that the congressman, while intoxicated, assaulted him at a Davao City bar last February 23. Patria claimed Duterte brandished a knife and headbutted him multiple times during the confrontation.

Fearing for his safety, Patria formally filed the complaint.

Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon confirmed that the case records were transmitted to the DOJ’s main office in Manila on Friday.

Duterte has yet to issue any public response to the allegations.
