DMCI Homes reaffirms support for UP College of Engineering

Quadruple A developer DMCI Homes renewed its support for the UP Diliman College of Engineering (UP COE) Professorial Chair Awards for Academic Year 2026-2027 through the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (UPERDFI). A ceremonial event was held on August 4 at UP Diliman to celebrate this long-standing collaboration, which honors faculty excellence and advances engineering education.

University officials, including UP ICE Director Dr. Jose Regin F. Regidor and Dean Dr. Maria Antonia N. Tanchuling, emphasized that industry backing is vital for developing exceptional faculty and producing skilled students. Professorial chair recipients Dr. Fernando J. Germar and Dr. Eric Augustus J. Tingatinga noted that the recognition provides essential financial and motivational support for their research in fields like structural earthquake engineering.

Representing DMCI Homes, Corporate Communications Manager Butch Mendizabal highlighted that the initiative falls under the company’s Kaakbay sa Edukasyon corporate social responsibility program. By investing in academic institutions, DMCI Homes aims to help cultivate future industry leaders and contribute to national development through quality education.

Beyond professorial grants, the partnership traces its roots back to DMCI founder Engr. David M. Consunji. Over the years, the collaboration has led to significant facility donations for the UP Institute of Civil Engineering (UP ICE), including a Universal Testing Machine, computational and lecture rooms, a canteen, and the David M. Consunji Theater.
