Chemist and philanthropist Pinky Tobiano, president of the Association of Veterinary and Agri-Quality Assurance Laboratories of the Philippines, Inc. (AVAQAL), recently led the organization in honoring agriculture luminaries in handing out prestigious Haligi ng Agri-Siyensya Awards.
Tobiano emphasized AVAQAL’s commitment to elevating quality assurance standards in the agricultural sector.
The well-attended gathering not only highlighted AVAQAL’s accomplishments, but also reaffirmed its position as a beacon of excellence in the agricultural sector.
Through the leadership of Tobiano, AVAQAL has turned into a world-class organization.
The event, held at the Great Eastern Hotel in Quezon City, brought together industry leaders, government officials and distinguished professionals to celebrate excellence and innovation in agriculture and science.
AVAQAL honored agriculture luminaries through Haligi ng Agri-Siyensya Awards.
Formerly, there was ABAIL, the Association of BAI-registered Laboratories, a recognized testing facility, organized 16 years ago by Dr. Edna Zenaida Villacorte.
The objective of ABAIL was to come up with good, quality veterinary medicines. “Before, it was the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) that regulated all veterinary drugs,” Tobiano said. “Now, there’s a transition, with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).”
Tobiano delivered an inspiring and informative speech during the event. “AVAQAL is here to help veterinary experts,” assured Tobiano.
“Our vision is to be the leading association in the Philippines that serves as a vital bridge between veterinary and agriculture quality assurance laboratories and government agencies.
A chemist by profession for 37 years, Tobiano, who is also known for her tablescaping ventures and philanthropic efforts, is the leader of AVAQAL. She represents Progressive Laboratories, her own company.
