The government needs the collaborative efforts from the private sector to solve traffic crisis in the metropolis and other areas, Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista stressed on Thursday.
“We do not claim exclusive solutions to the traffic problem, which is why we seek help from transport stakeholders, including Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI),” Sec. Bautista said during the opening of the 9th Philippine International Motor Show.
Sec. Bautista said while big ticket transport projects are being constructed at full speed, stakeholders such as CAMPI must provide solutions to address traffic and ensure efficient mobility even for car users.
“[I] ask for your collective support how your association can help us find effective solutions to the worsening traffic plaguing Metro Manila and other urban centers,” he said.
The transport chief likewise called on the association to produce more electric vehicles and other alternative mobility solutions to reduce the country’s carbon footprint.
“I encourage your association to actively pursue mobility solutions alongside government programs that promote alternative transportation such as electric vehicles, cycling and modernized public transport,” Sec. Bautista said.
