Veteran and award-winning actress Hilda Koronel is in town not only to spend the holidays but is set to face the movie cameras anew, this time, of Quantum Films’ “Sisa.”

“Before the year ends, she starts to work on the film,” informed Joji Villanueva Alonso, the lawyer-producer of Hilda’s comeback film.

In an interview with Boy Abunda, Koronel said that she has been reading and digesting the script of “Sisa,” a historical thriller about an enlightened woman who defies norms in an era when women were supposed to be silent.

Hilda, Susan Reid in real life, clarified that “Sisa” is not the literary character in Dr. Jose Rizal’s “Noli Me Tangere” but is just a namesake of one of the protagonists of the novel.

Although it must have an allusion from the fictional persona, Koronel’s Sisa character is unique. Observed a production staff of the project.

According to the actress, he has maintained her artistic conviction of a free exchange of ideas with her director before a scene is shot like what she has been trained during her professional relationship with Lino Brocka, now National Artist for Film.

She said that during her time with Lino, she freely vented her beliefs of what to do with her role.

It’s the same with Jun, Koronel qualified.

“I am very collaborative with Jun and he is open to it,” said Hilda.
