It’s already in the can.
2009 Palme d’Or of the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival Best Director Brillante Ma. Mendoza has just wrapped up a film project with a powerhouse ensemble and a casting coup.
Imagine, gathering in one movie, in a series of frames, legends of Philippine cinema like Charo Santos and Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo in an intriguing vehicle titled “Until She Remembers” directed by Brillante himself.
Aside from Charo and Boots, young actress Barbie Forteza is also part of the dramatic venture.
“Charo, Boots and Barbie readily agreed to the offer,” said Mendoza in an exclusive interview with him at his garden in Mandaluyong City recently.
What do Santos, Anson Roa-Rodrigo shade in common before they faced up with Mendoza’s unique directing style?
They all wanted to have a movie with Dante Mendoza.
“Inamin sa akin nila na talagang pangarap nilang maidirek ko sila sa hindi nila makakalimutang pagganap (They all admitted that they really would want to be directed by me in their most memorable performances),” disclosed Brillante.
What was the most unforgettable moment they shared while doing the film with the internationally renowned filmmaker?
“’Yong walang iskrip (When there was no script),” echoed Mendoza.
“Pero pag mahaba ang dialogue, pinapadalhan kp sila ng cue kung paano mag-i-evolve ang bawat eksena (But when the dialogues were long, I sent them cues when the scenes would evolve),” he shared.
“Madali lang silang idirek (They were easy to direct),” he described.
“I am happy and content about gathering legends in Philippine cinema,” added Dante.
The other excellent actors and actresses if not award-winning ones in the movie are Eric Quizon, Albert Martinez, Rene Durian, Erlinda Villalobos and others. (Boy Villasanta)
