Inter-agency push for integrated transport hub

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista met with officials from the Government State Insurance System (GSIS), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the Quezon City Government on 15 October 2024 to discuss the plans of each agency revolving the Integrated Transport Hub to be established at the GSIS Elliptical Lot.

Notably, the Integrated Transport Hub would support the DOTr’s Metro Manila High Quality Bus project, an Infrastructure Flagship Project under the Build Better More Program.

With a grant from the World Bank, the DOTr is currently developing the project to serve three key corridors in Metro Manila, namely: Quezon Avenue, C-5, and Ortigas-Aurora.

It will consist of high-capacity e-buses, IT systems for Passenger Information Displays, and Automated Fare Collection System.

The transport terminal is likewise in close proximity to the MRT-7 U.P. Avenue station which would lead to enhanced interconnectivity.

In attendance from the other agencies were GSIS President and General Manager Jose Arnulfo “Wick” Veloso, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte,  MMDA Chairman Romando Artes, and Presidential Management Staff Undersecretary Rodolfo Palattao IV.
