Actor Ernie Garcia’s fans and followers might be wondering why he isn’t seen regularly on the big and small screens when he is a real talent to keep track and contend with.
Ernie was last seen in ABS-CBN’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya” a couple of years ago.
“Ang pinakahuli ko namang teleserye ay ‘yong (My latest TV drama series was (‘Ang Probinsiyano’ with Coco Martin),” Garcia shared during the opening of the collective art show of showbiz artists billed as “Screenscapes” at the White Room Gallery of the International House of SEMEO INNOTEC along Commonwealth Avenue in Diliman, Quezon City.
His latest movie was “Nang Dumating si Joey” in 2021 directed by the late Arlyn de la Cruz.
It was the last masterpiece of Arlyn before she succumbed to cancer.
“A! Kanser pala ang ikinamatay niya. Ang sabi no’n, sakit sa puso (So cancer was the cause of her death. What went around that time was heart ailment),” recalled the actor who dabbles in singing and painting.
“I am not really choosy of roles. It’s just some situations call for judiciousness in accepting projects. I have been in the business for five decades so I must exercise proper judgement of my career,” opined Ernie.
At the moment, he is just waiting for acting breaks to knock on his door.
“Basta makakatulong sa career ko, gagawin ko (As long as it can help the enhancement of my career),” he quipped.
What really occupies most of his time is his visual arts where he produces artistic creations that people love.
During the launch of “Screenscapes,” the former hunk actor hobnobbed with his fellow exhibitors, the beautiful people and arts lovers like Noni Buencamino, Shamaine Centenera Buencamino, Lotlot de Leon, Janine Gutierrez, Maria Isabel Lopez, Alice Vergara, Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., Ricky Lee, ex-DepEd’s secretary Leonor Briones, Elizabeth Oropesa, Marlon Bautista, Gigi de la Riva, Dranreb Belleza, Cris Villanueva, Jao Mapa, Jeanette Kamphuis, Louie Ignacio, Evangeline Pascual, Leandro Baldemor, Sandino Martin, Jet Rai (the former Jet Alcantara), MJ Felipe, Prof. Ruben “Dodo” Defeo, Melissa Mendez and Nina Ricci Alagao-Flores.
