The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in the National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) has approved a P500 increase in the monthly minimum wage for domestic workers (kasambahay).
In Wage Order No. NCR-DW-05, the NCR wage board said the new minimum wage in the region for the sector will be at P7,000 a month.
“The new minimum wage for kasambahays in the region is at P7,000 a month, which is P500 higher than the previous rate,” it said in a statement.
The new Wage Order was based upon the Board’s decision motu proprio to commence the minimum wage determination process.
The current monthly minimum wage for kasambahays in Metro Manila is P6,500.
The new wage hike will take effect on January 4, 2025.
“All domestic workers in the NCR are covered by the wage order, regardless of their type of employment, whether live-in or live-out,” the NWPC added. PNA
