“Bagay sila (They’re matched),” observers say.
They are referring to Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards.
Interestingly, ever since Kathryn and Alden were teamed up in the monster hit “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” a mega production of Star Cinema in 2019, their tandem was well-sought after.
“Hello, Love, Goodbye” has been one of the two (the other one being “Rewind,” a co-venture of Star Cinema, AgostoDos Pictures Productions and APT Entertainment shown in 2023 that starred reel and real-life couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes) top-grossing films of all-time in both domestic and international sales combined.
It was a pre-pandemic box-office phenomenon that a hot screen love team was born.
No love angle was palpable not even an imagined or fabricated romance was written about Kath and Alden simply because there was no such thing.
Yet their chemistry was well-blended.
It was only onscreen as the title suggested—not even a whirlwind romance, just a fleeting encounter no sooner said adieu.
It goes to show that a film project clicks sans gimmicks or a private love story to bank on except a quality narrative presentarion.
At the time, Kathryn was still romantically involved with Daniel Padilla and the portmanteau KathNiel was formidable.
Until their sensational breakup in the latter part of 2023.
Auspiciously, when Kath had celebrated her milestones one after the other—house blessing and birthday– guess who was surprisingly yet pleasantly around?—Alden.
There was no forced revelations from Richards why he was in the company of Kath.
No hollow expressions of fascination nor false attraction or affection on both ways, only a candid, natural liking with each other.
If it’s a show then it’s a truthful and sincere manifestation of friendly persuasion.
KathDen was coined to formally introduce a new symbol of mass hysteria, this time, more stabilized and educated.
In no time at all, Bernardo and Richards were given another exciting assignment, “Hello, Love Again,” a sequel to the blockbuster Cathy Garcia-Molina masterpiece.
By then, the lady director has taken a new lease on her civil status, now she’s Cathy Garcia-Sampana, a new chapter in her life just like a new beginning for Kath and Alden.
Will “Hello, Love Again” signal twists and turns on Bernardo and Richards’ personal lives?
Will their compatibility onscreen carry over their perfect match off-screen?
The film has just wrapped up its Canada scenes and on the last shooting day in Calgary, Alden cried seeing Kath go.
In their Behind-the-Scenes (BTS) snaps, the two were lovey-dovey on the set.
Suddenly, they were on their separate ways.
Is it meant to be that her absence makes his heart grow fonder?
For them, t’s just a Facetime away, anyway.
Or are they just as good a screen lovers?
Let’s give them more time to breathe and live each other.
