Luxury need not be out of reach, according to Ms. Charo Cordial, the woman behind Maddox Jewelry, a fast-growing, Marikina-based line of jewels.

What started as a home-based live selling venture has grown into a full-blown jewelry business that caters to customers from many walks of life. Charo credits the widespread pandemic that hit the country between 2020 and 2022 as the inspiration behind Maddox.

When life seemed to stand still and had nowhere to go, Charomomentarily shed her background in agricultural engineering to engage in live selling of bags, and later on, jewels, that she sourced from friends and friends of friends. Market engagement rose high, higher and higher, overtaking supply.

It was then that Charo decided to embark on something bigger. Thus, was born Maddox. Previously, she had spent 15 years at a Japanese multi- national company where she drove tractors on fields as one of the boys.

“I was never into luxury. I sold crops,” she says. Now, she’s selling carats.

Success, for Charo Cordial, is notmeasured solely by brilliance or prestige but by purpose, humility, and the lives she touches along the way.
