Manila Symphony Orchestra holds “Music for Peace” concert to usher in “Road to 100” gig

Forget Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO)—the primer orchestra of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP)—for the moment and this time, let’s give way to another orchestra, the Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) which will look back this month on its nearly a century of music manufacturing from classics to pop.

On May 24, 2025, MSO will kick off its “Music for Peace” concert series featuring Dvorak and Beethoven at the Aliw Theater in CCP Complex to usher in its celebration of centennial year in 2026 in a show aptly billed “Road to 100.”

According to MSO Artistic Director and Conductor Jeffrey Solares, the “Music for Peace” gigs will feature exceptional local and foreign artists.

For the maiden concert, it will feature Berlin-based Filipino violinist Emmanuel John Villarin and conductor Marlon Chen.

Watch out for further announcements of MSO’s future shows. (Boy Villasanta)
