Metro Manila ‘kasambahays’ to get P800 pay hike

Domestic workers in Metro Manila will see their monthly salaries rise by ₱800 starting next month, following the approval of a new wage order.

The Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board–National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) issued Wage Order No. NCR-DW-06, granting the salary adjustment. In a Thursday advisory, the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) said the increase will raise the pay of kasambahays in the region from ₱7,000 to ₱7,800 per month, effective Feb. 7, or 15 days after the order’s publication.

The adjustment covers general household workers, whether stay-in or live-out, including yaya, cooks, gardeners, laundry personnel, and anyone performing domestic work on a regular occupational basis for a single household.

Those excluded from the raise include service providers, family drivers, and individuals performing domestic tasks occasionally or sporadically, rather than as regular employment.

The wage hike follows this year’s determination process, which involved a survey of kasambahays in the NCR, focus group discussions, and a public hearing held in Pasay City on Jan. 12.
