The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced on Thursday that it is ready to assist local businesses severely affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami).
Following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive, DTI Acting Secretary Cristina Roque highlighted the agency’s dedication to supporting recovery efforts, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“We have been actively engaging with our partners in the private sector, including industry associations, to mobilize resources and provide immediate assistance to affected businesses,” Roque stated.
The DTI is collaborating with various agencies and private sector partners to ensure that impacted businesses receive essential resources, such as financial aid and advisory services.
In addition, a price freeze on essential goods has been implemented in areas declared under a state of calamity.
Affected businesses are encouraged to reach out to their nearest Negosyo Centers or DTI regional offices for assistance.
Last August, the DTI initiated a loan program for MSMEs affected by Typhoon Carina through its financing arm, the Small Business Corporation.
