The 3-day Philippine Plan of Action for Senior Citizens (PPASC) Write Shop has lived up to expectations as it ended successfully here in the “air conditioned” City of Tagaytay on Wednesday.
The highly-anticipated event aimed at laying down the foundation of a solid plan of action for the country’s elderly to ensure that programs and services are in place and ready for execution on or before 2028.
The workshop was air-tight, super busy and at times, brain-whacking but it did not deter the willpower and determination of the stakeholders to serve and protect our elderly better.
A well-deserved path on the back for the NCSC, WHO and other stakeholders like the DSWD, DOH, PhilHealth, PSA and CHED, among others.
The resource persons were not only impressive but they also managed to squeeze some really creative juices that would greatly help attain the PPASC’ goals and objectives.
NCSC Chairman Atty. Franklin Quijano broke the ice on opening day with his keynote speech, touching on the need to create a solid, concrete plan of action and execution of programs and services for the elderly in the next five years, starting 2023.
Quijano’s address drew loud cheers from the pumped-up participants as it sounded exciting and full of optimism not to mention being informative and entertaining.
Actively taking part in the proceedings were NCSC Comms. Ida Yap-Patron, Enriqueta Rodeles, Edwin Espejo, Rainier Cruz and Reymar Mansilungan, who shared their thoughts, experiences and wisdom to the workplan.
One of the highlights of the Write Shop was NCSC’s presentation of objectives, sub-objectives, indicators, key strategies and activities.
Capping the highly satisfying 3-day activity were the awe-inspiring closing remarks of NCSC Chairman Franklin Quijano and Technical Coordinator of WHO-Philippines, Ms. April Joy David.
Kudos to the event’s organizers led by NCSC Cluster 8 Comm. Ida Yap-Patron, Dr. Chin Gallenero and the indefatigable men and women of the NCSC and WHO.
The PPASC Write Shop will continue on July 19-21 in Cebu City to finalize and validate the indicators which will form part of the national plan of action.
It will also incorporate contributions from various stakeholders for adoption into the official guidelines of the Philippine Plan of Action for Senior Citizens (2023-2028).
