ESCA, UE sign partnership for BIM technology

ESCA Inc, one of the country’s leading engineering companies signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of the East for Industry-Academe and Training Partnership on Building Information Modeling or BIM.

This partnership will allow the University of the East to eventually offer BIM as part of its undergraduate and graduate courses.

BIM is one of the technological opportunities shaping the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) sector and there is an increasing demand for BIM services, solutions, and knowledge professionals both locally and globally.

With ESCA as one of the first adopters of BIM in the country, this partnership will allow the University of the East to teach the theoretical sides of BIM while ESCA will be able to expose the university’s faculty and students to industry practices.

ESCA’s president, Dr Ernesto de Castro is advocating the wider adoption of BIM and has proposed a BIM Roadmap for the Philippines as part of the initiative he started during his stint as president of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers in 2016.

De Castro envisioned the country to be center of excellence for engineering services outsourcing by 2022.
