After Luneta, I went straight to EDSA.
By two o’clock in the afternoon, the stretch from Shaw Boulevard to EDSA Shrine in Ortigas Avenue to Santolan/Boni Serrano Avenue, was filled with people although as early as the break of dawn, there were already marchers on the highway.
Varied chants filled the air: “Mga Kurakot, Ikulong na ‘Yan (Corrupt, Jail Them),” “Jinggoy, Jinggoy Bottomesa (Jinggoy likes bottom down) in reference to Jinggoy Estrada,” “Marcos, Duterte, walang pinag-iba (They are no different),” “Marcos, Duterte, resign) and the pre-recorded songs of the 1986 EDSA Revolution theme song “Magkasia” sung by Virna Lisa, “Magnanakaw” by Asin, “Tatsulok” by Bamboo Manalac, “Upuan” by Gloc 9 etc.
Popular TV, movie, stage, music and multimedia stars like Iza Calzado, Anne Curtis, Noel Cabangon, Bayang Barrios, Maris Racal, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Glenda Garcia, Catriona Gray, Lovely Rivero, David Licauco, among many others occupied EDSA and the People Power Monument where they staged a program.
Iza was trembling in her voice calling all Filipinos to unite against oppression. She admitted that she is afraid for her life as powerful people might retaliate on her but she is ready, she said, for any eventuality.
Vice Ganda was very vocal about thieves in government as more than murderers.
Vice called on President Bongbong Marcos, Jr. to jail all robbers of public coffers.
She emphasized that the people shouldn’t show mercy to corrupt politicians: “…Ipakulong lahat. Bawiin ang mga ari-arian pati atay, i-donate, pati mga mata dahil hindi tayo puwedeng maawa dahil putang ina nila (Jail all of them. Take back all their assets including their livers, eyes donate them, we must be merciless on them because they are sons of bitches)…,” Ganda strongly shouted.
