DTI finds Taguig City Public Market vendors SRP compliant

Businesses in the Taguig City People’s Market are selling goods within or below the government’s suggested retail prices (SRPs), Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said on Thursday.

Roque made the statement after the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) jointly conducted a price monitoring activity to ensure that prices of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) remain stable and affordable.

Among the monitored items were canned goods, processed milk, coffee, noodles, condiments, and goods sold in the wet market. Two Timbangan ng Bayan public weighing scales were also inspected.

Roque, who chairs the National Price Coordinating Council (NPCC), noted that prices in the market were lower by ₱0.05 to ₱10.05 compared to the SRP.

“Our monitoring is non-negotiable, especially when we see positive outcomes like this,” she said. “The DTI is closely coordinating with manufacturers to ensure there will be no price increases on BNPCs.”

She added that the agency is intensifying its price monitoring efforts to make sure affordable goods remain accessible to Filipino households, especially with the holiday season approaching.
