Big shoes to fill for Bol Bol as TNT import

THE defending PBA Commissioner’s Cup champion is leaving nothing to chance.

As original reinforcement Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is grounded with a ruptured Achilles tendon, TNT secured the services of another former NBA player in Bol Bol (Bol Manute Bol) as it prepares to retain its title in the coming mid-season tournament.

The 7-foot-3 son of the late NBA player Manute Bol arrived in the country on Thursday or three weeks before the second conference formally kicks off on March 11.

He was personally met upon arrival by no less than team manager Jojo Lastimosa.

The 26-year-old American-South Sudanese is easily the biggest name to play in the league this coming import-laden meet, having been a second round pick of the Miami Heat in the 2019 draft.

He didn’t get to play for the Heat, but eventually suited up for the Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, and the Phoenix Suns.

The stint with the Tropang 5G will be Bol’s first outside of the NBA, and he’ll definitely have a large shoes to fill.

Hollis-Jefferson helped the telecommunication franchise win last season’s Commissioner’s Cup despite listed among the smallest in a conference that has no height limit.

The three-time Best Import, a first round pick of the Portland Trailblazers in the 2015 draft, was actually signed to play for another tour of duty as a resident import of the Tropang 5G.

Unfortunately, he went down with the season-ending injury while on loan to the Meralco Bolts in the East Asia Super League Home and Away Season 3, putting him out of commission for at least a year.

Hollis-Jefferson’s exit eventually opened the doors for Bol Bol.
