BPI, Gogolook team up vs. digital scams

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has partnered with Gogolook to strengthen its digital banking ecosystem and give customers added protection against scams and fraud.

Under the partnership, qualified BPI customers will receive 12 months of free access to Whoscall Premium Basic, an anti-scam application that can block spam and scam calls, identify unknown callers and filter suspicious messages.

BPI Head of Unsecured Lending and Cards—Product and Sales Alma Aldip said the partnership aims to help customers stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated scams.

“At a time when scams are becoming more sophisticated and harder to detect, building awareness is just as important as providing protection,” Aldip said.

She said Whoscall provides an additional layer of protection but reminded customers to remain vigilant and exercise caution when conducting financial transactions.

Gogolook Global Chief Operations Officer Manalo Joo said closer collaboration between financial institutions and technology providers is crucial as scam tactics become more localized and sophisticated.

“Through our partnership with BPI, we are able to bring our global expertise in digital risk detection to more Filipinos and empower them with tools like Whoscall to better identify and avoid suspicious communications,” Joo said.

Aldip clarified that Whoscall is a third-party application offered as a complimentary tool, with its features and performance managed by the provider and not by BPI.

Customers who receive suspicious calls, messages or requests claiming to be from BPI are advised to contact the bank’s 24-hour Contact Center at (+632) 889-10000 or the domestic toll-free number 1-800-188-89-100.
