Canadian mining company B2Gold Corp. has reaffirmed its commitment to invest in the Philippines during a courtesy visit to Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque.

Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) Toronto Trade Commissioner Mario Tani confirmed that B2Gold plans to establish an exploration office in the Philippines in 2025.

“The mine site is nearing its end of life. For mining operations to continue or expand, extensive research and analysis are necessary,” Tani explained. He added that this process typically involves hiring local geologists and investing in comprehensive studies.

B2Gold currently operates the Masbate Gold Project in Aroroy, Masbate, which is projected to yield 175,000 to 195,000 ounces of gold this year.

The company was among over 200 Canadian firms that participated in a recent trade mission to Manila.

“B2Gold’s decision to expand operations in the Philippines reflects global investors’ confidence in the country’s robust policies, strategic reforms, and highly skilled workforce under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,” Secretary Roque stated.

Key B2Gold executives, including Vice President Neil Reeder, Senior Vice President for Engineering and Project Evaluations Dennis Stansbury, and Australia-Asia Exploration Manager Tony Field, joined the discussions on their expansion plans. They were accompanied by Filminera Resources Corp. President Cris Acosta, Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita Austria, and Trade Commissioner Tani.
