Secretary Jaime J. Bautista recently welcomed Dr. Melvin H. Villaruz, lead trainor and assessor of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for NCR of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), who proudly presented the first three personnel from the Special Action & Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) who successfully completed the TESDA EMS National Certificate II program.
The pioneering graduates – Amer Arboleda, Rachele Ann Deimoy, and Kim Asis – were recommended for the program by Assistant Secretary for Road Transport Non-Infrastructure and SAICT Vice Chairman Jose Tracker Lim, along with SAICT Communications Head Anna Leah Morales. Their successful completion of the program marks a significant step in the DOTr’s broader initiative to enhance the emergency response capabilities of SAICT.
The TESDA training, culminating in the National Certification II (NC II) for EMS, is part of a comprehensive three-year partnership between the DOTr and TESDA-NCR. The collaboration is designed to strengthen the emergency response skills of DOTr personnel, ensuring that SAICT is well-equipped to manage transportation-related emergencies across land, air, and sea.
Sec. Bautista commended the graduates for their commitment to improve emergency response services within the transportation sector. He emphasized the importance of this program in equipping DOTr personnel with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively handle various emergency situations.
Dr. Villaruz highlighted the significance of the collaboration in strengthening the EMS workforce. He expressed his confidence in the graduates’ ability to contribute to the safety and well-being of the public.
The DOTr remains committed to fostering partnerships that enhance the safety and efficiency of the country’s transportation system. This initiative with TESDA is a testament to the DOTr’s commitment to continuous improvement and the development of a highly skilled and capable workforce within the transportation sector.
