DTI hailed for pushing digital innovation of MSMEs

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. last week commended the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for spearheading initiatives that drive digital innovation and promote inclusive economic growth, particularly through its Bagong Pilipinas Marketplace.

Designed as a business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce platform, the Bagong Pilipinas Marketplace puts a spotlight on “Proudly Filipino” products and services. It aims to support advancements in product development and encourage the use of cutting-edge technologies across critical industries such as food manufacturing.

During his speech at the DTI–Bagong Pilipinas National Food Fair 2025, President Marcos emphasized the importance of the platform in accelerating the country’s digital transformation and expanding market access for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“I would of course acknowledge the efforts of the DTI for introducing the DTI Bagong Pilipinas Marketplace platform,” the President said.

“It is an initiative set to become a robust business-to-business e-commerce platform that will highlight the products and services that are Proudly Filipino,” he added.

He noted that the platform provides MSMEs a unique opportunity to display their products in a digital environment, increasing their visibility and competitiveness both locally and abroad.

“The platform will empower our MSMEs by providing them a space where their products can be seen, recognized, and valued by a wider market,” he said.

President Marcos also pointed out that every purchase made on the platform serves a larger purpose—supporting local entrepreneurs and helping their ventures grow.

“With every online order that is placed, we are not only supporting the local products and services of our MSMEs, we are helping our Filipino entrepreneurs realize their dreams,” the President said.

“We are validating our local producers’ capability to create high-quality products worth every peso, every centavo, and can be marketed internationally,” he added.

The event was graced by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos and their son William Vincent Marcos, alongside Pampanga Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, who proudly presented Kapampangan delicacies and crafts.

Joining the President were DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, and Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go—all of whom expressed their full support for the initiative.

The First Family, along with other guests, enjoyed a sampling of Kapampangan dishes, celebrating the culinary heritage and rich traditions of the region.
