Hollywood actors topbill ‘The Mongol Khan’ in Singapore

Hollywood actors Ron Yuan, Mark Dacascos and Leonard Wu are set to join the Mongolian cast of the dramatic theatrical production, The Mongol Khan, as the production introduces English language performances to make theatre more accessible and inclusive. With the addition of these performances, audiences will not be limited by language, as both the English and Mongolian shows will feature surtitles in English and Mandarin.

Following a sell-out season at The London Coliseum in 2023, this is the first time a Mongolian theatrical production will take to the stage in Singapore with the full season of The Mongol Khan playing from 17 October to 3 November 2024 at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands.

The Hollywood actors will be joined by the producer of The Mongol Khan and international actress Byra Bela, and renowned Mongolian stars Dulguun Odkhuu and Zana Gankhuyag, alongside an ensemble of over 70 actors, dancers and musicians.

Mark Dacascos joins the cast as the Chancellor. He is known for his standout performances in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (Lionsgate), Iron Chef America (Food Network), Brotherhood of the Wolf and Warrior (HBO Max).

The Mongol Khan was written in 1998 by acclaimed Mongolian writer Lkhagvasuren Bavuu, and revived in April 2022 at the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Drama. The production draws on historical events, archaeological discoveries, traditional nomadic dances, and the music of the ancient Hun culture from 3,000 years ago.

The production of The Mongol Khan is a collaboration between an international team of world-renowned artists and creatives including Tony-nominated playwright Timberlake Wertenbaker (Our Country’s Good, Three Birds Alighting On A Field), Olivier and Tony Award-winning Nick Barnes (Life of Pi, The Lorax), and the prolific historian and travel writer John Man, an expert in Mongolian history and culture.

A multi-sensory feast that is brought to life through a haunting original score, dramatic storytelling, dance and puppetry, The Mongol Khan is theatrical brilliance that blends Hollywood talent and historical epic.
