Imelda Papin inks education pact with Tesda

The sharp mind of Asia’s Sentimental Songstress Imelda Papin is working again.

This time for the educational benefits of the officers and members of the Katipunan ng mga Artista ng Pelikulang Pilipino at Telebisyon (KAPPT).

Papin as the President of KAPPT, also known as the Actors Guild of the Philippines, has just signed up a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) regarding the free enrollment of all bona fide members of the guild in all vocational and technical courses being offered by the state agency on skilled education program.

This means that any officer or member of the organization can avail of TESDA’s programs like cosmetology, refrigeration, computer studies or Information Technology (IT), language communications, caregiving, auto mechanical engineering etc.

Imelda inked the project with TESDA Director General Guiling Mamondong with witnesses KAPPT Treasurer Lyn Madrigal and Deputy Director-General Gaspar S. Gayona, Officer-in-Charge-DDG-CLGUs (Communities and LGU Services), respectively.

According to Mel, the singer’s pet name, it is high time that her fellow actors and members of her group be given the chances to do, train and earn from their preferred courses as fallback positions when their acting jobs are scarce or even nil.

“There a few movies being made these days so our actors and actresses don’t have enough livelihood to bank on their economic existence so TESDA is a big boost to their employment prospects,” quipped Papin.

“I would like to thank Director General Mamondong and President Rodrigo Duterte for this chance. It should have been done before, as a matter of fact but this is the only time we are doing this,” said the chanteuse.

Anytime, anywhere, anyhow, the qualified members and officers of KAPPT can visit their nearest TESDA schools and enroll there until such a period of time.

As a matter of fact, Mel for herself is quick to affirm her enrollment with the state vocational agency by enlisting herself as one of the future students of Niponggo. “I would like to study the Japanese language and Japan’s culture,” exclaimed La Papin.

But I would like to correct Mel about her soundbites that there are only a few movies being produced in the Philippines these days.

Maybe she was referring to the big studio film manufactures because there are hundreds or even thousands of films, short and full-length before made in the country even in diaspore by all generational filmmakers.

They are films just the same although most of them are small budget but nonetheless inspirational and worthwhile fares being given accolades and enough exposures here and abroad.

As a matter of fact, Imelda’s coterie of show biz denizens who accompanied her during the pact signing was telling stories about their new film, “Pet Malu,” a project of movie director Joven Tan. KAPPT Board of Directors Japh Bahian, Jaime Pango, Perry de Guzman were part of the making of the film as actors.

One of the many problems is that a project like “Pet Malu” doesn’t get enough advertisement and promotion at this time because of limited funds in its marketing to be able to maximize it visibility to all walks of life in the film market.

If a producer has no millions to sustain a multimedia campaign to sell the product on free TV or other paid ads campaign in popular media like broadsheets, tabloids, mags, radio, outdoor advertising like tarps or banners etc the project doesn’t ring a bell to the public is unfamiliar to the artifact and the prospects of it being bought is a bleak reality.

Otherwise, one of the thriftiest, easiest and practical means of the announcement is its bombardment on social media to achieve its ends.

KAPPT members and officers have movies and TV shows however meager but one of the problems as well is the peanut fees they receive which are not enough to buy food on the table because of high prices of daily commodities citizens of the land like actors and actresses are also affected by economic depravity
