Jerico Ejercito, also known in his screen name as Jerico Estregan is the third child of the late actress and former Pagsanjan, Laguna Maita Sanchez and the province’s ex-governor and actor ER Ejercito.
As a son, he was very close to her mom. “I love you so much, Mom,” exclaimed Jerico in his social media spaces.
“I am very close to my mother. She is the kindest mom in the world. I miss every inch of her,” said Estregan (obviously named after his granddad George Estregan), who looks more Maita than ER.
“I will miss her embrace and care,” the young action star intimated in our exclusive interview with him when entertainment journalist Art Tapalla and I went to the 1912 Don Porong Ejercito mansion in Pagsanjan to pay our last respects to dearly departed Maita, Girlie Maita Javier-Ejercito in real life.
Jerico credited his being in the movies to her mom and dad.
“I want to be an accomplished actor like my dad and mom,” he emphasized.
Estregan has starred in projects like “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story,” “El Presidente,” “Magnum Muslim .357,” “Amalanhig: The Vampire Chronicles,” etc.
It was ER and Maita who paved the way for Jerico to star solo in films, initially in “Ben Tumbling,” a remake of a Lito Lapid action caper about a character actor-stuntman named Benjamin M. Garcia whose eponymous original film was a bit.
Jerico is still inspired to do films even if he is in the thick of political activities like campaigning for vice governor of Laguna in the 2025 midterm elections.
Asked if he will still resume the shoots of “Ben Tumbling,” Jerico said in the affirmative.
“Itutuloy po namin ‘yon (We will continue that),” he assured.
