Keep ‘spirits’ flowing with Makati Shang’s bar service

Whiskey lovers, rejoice: Makati Shangri-La Manila is elevating the art of whiskey consumption with Sage Bar’s Bottle Keep Cabinet Service, through which guests can enjoy their favorite bottles from the bar’s selection of prized spirits.

Launched in January, this service is offered only to Sage Bar patrons, and where one (or two) of the limited 70 cabinets built to store rare bottles are made available for a specific time. Sage Bar personnel are trained to help guests navigate its extensive menu of premium and hard-to-find whiskey, wine, and other spirits based on the guests’ preferred tasting notes and aroma.

With this service, Sage Bar redefines its approach to casual sophistication and personalized bar experience. Guests availing themselves of the service are given a key with which to access the cabinets, which come with their own number.

“Personalized service through initiatives such as our Bottle Keep Cabinet Service defines luxury nowadays. By ensuring that our guests are provided [with] the best service that cater to their preferences, we aim to maintain [the] high standards of service that we are known for,” Sage Bar Outlet Manager Simone Cordedda said.

To date, some 100 bar patrons have availed themselves of the service, and some are on the waiting list—a strong testament to Sage Bar’s finest quality of personalized customer service.

Former banker Cesar Virtusio, a longtime patron of Sage Bar, is one of the first to use the bottle-keep service. His bottle-keep cabinet currently holds his favorite Hibiki and Yamazaki bottles, as he developed an appreciation for fine Japanese whiskeys.

“What I love about Sage Bar is the design of the place and the quality of service. I have availed [myself] of the bottle-keep service since it started, because it is convenient and exclusive. When I want to have a drink, I just come here, a few blocks from where I work and live. Also, their menu offers me options for the products I love,” Virtusio said.

“Of the estimated 4,000 guests we receive in a month, about 70 percent are regulars, and we make it a point to really get to know them, from the type of expressions they want, the order of their preferred drinks, and even the flavorful dishes they pair with their drinks,” Cordedda said.
