Korea makes visa application easier for Pinoy travelers

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines has removed the requirement to submit three months’ worth of bank statements for visa applications, easing documentary requirements for Filipino travelers.

The Korean Visa Application Center Philippines (KVAC) said the policy change aims to streamline the process and encourage more visits to South Korea.

“For all types of required documents, the submission of three months of bank statements will be waived, [effective February 20, 2026],” KVAC announced Thursday.

Under the revised guidelines, student applicants may submit either the original School Certificate or a copy of their Student ID. The requirement for an explanation letter concerning employment documents has also been lifted in cases where no landline number is indicated or when the document carries an electronic signature.

“As long as other reachable contact information (email address or mobile phone number) is provided, the document will be accepted,” KVAC said.

For group or multiple applicants, common documents — such as invitation letters, proof of family relationship, and company-related papers — need only be submitted in one copy and attached to the representative applicant’s file.

KVAC, which opened in 2023 amid rising travel demand between the Philippines and South Korea, is located at the Brittany Hotel in Taguig City. It accepts applications for all visa categories and releases visas and passports processed by the Korean Embassy in Manila.
