LandBank expands fuel, transport relief

The Land Bank of the Philippines is rolling out a wider set of financial support measures to help cushion the impact of rising fuel prices, aligning its programs with the government’s Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food and Transport (UPLIFT).

Land Bank of the Philippines President and CEO Lynette Ortiz said the bank is working closely with the Department of Energy, Department of Transportation, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology to digitally process fuel subsidies for transport workers.

The Fuel Subsidy Program, which runs from April 14 to July 2026, provides qualified public utility jeepney and UV Express drivers and operators with a ₱10-per-liter diesel discount at participating stations in Metro Manila.

“The subsidy covers up to 150 liters or ₱1,500 per unit per week. Amid rising fuel costs, we remain committed to delivering responsive and inclusive financial solutions that directly benefit transport operators, commuters, and food producers,” Ortiz said.

“Through close coordination with government partners, we ensure that assistance reaches those who need it, when they need it most,” she added.

To further ease commuting costs, LandBank has also revived the MRT-3 Balik Pasahe promo, which started April 15 and will run until July 31, 2026. The program offers 100 percent fare cashback for MRT-3 passengers using eligible LandBank cards at select turnstiles.

Beyond short-term relief, the state lender is also expanding financing support for affected sectors through its Calamity Assistance and Rehabilitation Efforts for a Sustainable Recovery Plus Lending Program, which provides working capital and recovery loans for transport groups, micro, small and medium enterprises, and other industries impacted by the energy crisis.

Ortiz also highlighted continued support for agriculture through the Agrisenso Plus Lending Program, which offers 3 percent annual interest loans to help farmers and fishers cope with rising input costs such as fuel and electricity.

This is complemented by the Agri-Fishery Support thru Capability Enhancement for Nationwide Development Program, which provides training, technical assistance, and market linkages to strengthen agricultural enterprises nationwide. TRACY CABRERA
