Chinese actress Zhang Yingfei, popularly known for portraying the brilliant student Linda Walker in the viral micro-drama “The Heiress Who Won with Brains,” shared inspiring messages for the youth during a press conference on Tuesday in Quezon City.
Zhang is in the Philippines as part of the celebration of the 51st anniversary of Philippines-China diplomatic relations, in partnership with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII).
Through an interpreter, she encouraged young people to value education, saying, “With education, you can change your destiny. So I encourage everybody to study hard and do your best because that could change your lives.”
Zhang revealed that she was a fourth-year university student when she took on the role of Linda Walker. While acting remains her main profession, she also enjoys cooking and spending time with her pet dog.
Beyond emphasizing the importance of education, Zhang urged students to prioritize their mental health. “It is very important to take care of your health, because if you have good health, then you can do anything,” she said.
Asked about the possibility of working in the country, Zhang expressed enthusiasm. “It would be my honor if I could have an opportunity here,” she said.
While Linda Walker remains her most recognizable role among Filipino audiences, Zhang encouraged fans to explore her other short-form dramas, saying they showcase the scope of her work and help dispel rumors that her image was created using artificial intelligence (AI).
“I’m not an AI. I’m a Chinese actress, Zhang Yingfei. There are a lot of short films that I have acted in in China. You can go and watch them,” she said.
“I also starred in many short dramas. I invite you all to please check it out so you’ll know I’m not AI. I’m a living, breathing human being,” Zhang quipped.
