Despite tough challenges, the Phuket Waves showcased their resilience by securing a thrilling third consecutive victory in the Thailand Basketball League (TBL).

The Waves of playing coach James Martinez emerged triumphant with a close 96-93 win against the Ban Bueng Devil Rays at the Multi-Purpose Building, Office of The Permanent Secretary for Defence.

Drawing inspiration from their previous back-to-back triumphs over the Pathum Thani Pythons and Khon Kaen Kings MFT Fruitmasters, the Waves demonstrated remarkable composure under pressure to secure their seventh win against two losses in the league.

Martinez once again exhibited his exceptional all-around brilliance, delivering a near triple-double performance of  18 points, 14 assists and eight rebounds.

“I would like to thank our sponsors who supported the team, Sprinto Shades official eyewear of the Phuket players, Winzir official sponsor of the Phuket Waves team and MEBL Apparel, our official
outfitter,” said Martinez, also a former PBA player.

Morakinyo Michael William’s outstanding efforts were also pivotal in the Waves’ success, as he contributed 30 points and 14 rebounds.

Raymond Edward Miller also stepped up with 22 points and 22 rebounds

Hernal Esconio added 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Ban Bueng Devil Rays fought gallantly and displayed commendable effort.

Toby Thai Sathitsumpan led the charge for the Devil Rays with 34 points. Ali Tew added 20 points and 20 rebounds, and Ervin Lorenzo chipped in with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.

The Phuket Waves’ continued display of strength and determination reflects their desire to excel in the TBL, as they remain a formidable force to contend with in the league.

Martinez’s father, Danilo, was a very happy man.

“As playing coach of the team, James is also happy for the trust given to him by the management,” said Danilo Martinez, the father of the former San Beda College and University of the East standout.
